#Moons_Room was started back in late April of 2000. Luna was going through a very bad time emotionally and didn't leave her house much so IRC was a big deal for her back then. She also needed some more control over things in her life. That combined with her getting into an argument with the owner of one of the channels she was a regular in convinced her to start her own channel. It used to be far more active than it is now, with truth or dare games, uno, and just all kinds of stuff going on, but over the years, IRC has lost alot of its fanbase, and we rarely see new people join.

The Undernet had a very different way of creating channels and had two different bot services at the time. Applications for a new channel took two weeks and required that ten people supply email addresses that were NOT from free email services, which made it difficult to register a channel. They also required that there was regular activity in the channel when they came around to check. It took a month and a half to get #Moons_Room registered and we were given W, one of the two official Undernet bots at the time, on June 2nd.

In August of 2000, some people in Romania thought it might be a fun idea to hack into The Undernet and take it down... They succeeded, at least in taking down the bot services. We were without an official Undernet bot for about two months. It SUCKED! We had MoonDrop, of course, but that wasn't always enough. Old regulars of #Moons_Room will probably recall the "fuck off" incident, wherein Luna, in her normal way, told one of the other ops to fuck off for saying something stupid and his response was to unop everyone all at once and then himself. We had to get cservice to come in and clean it up. NOT fun. When the services returned they were cleaned up a bit and completely different and W no longer exsisted, so we now have X in the channel.

Before people stopped paying much attention to IRC, there were all kinds of things that went on in the channel. We had truth or dare nights where we would be up until all hours of the morning playing truth or dare. We would play Uno and trivia through MoonDrop. We had monthly contests were people would vote on the sexiest/weirdest/prettiest/most innocent man and woman in the channel. Luna also used to update the stats page and pick the most talkative male and female in the channel every couple of weeks.
