So, for those of you that have been with us from the beginning, get ready for some nostalgia, and for those of us that are just starting to tune in, we hope you enjoy this story of our roots and that it can help you to understand the show a little better. Please click the linked text for some more in-depth information. (You know you wanna know everything you can about Practical Lunacy!)

There was this woman going by the name Luna and she met, befriended, and eventually started dating, a couple of talk radio show hosts. Now this is important to our story for one simple reason: They gave Luna the tools needed to start Practical Lunacy. The two guys to which we are referring were Scott and Schuyler, and they hosted a show called Taste of the Goods, which was also (originally) an internet talk radio show, and the website and internet radio server which carried it. They were looking for some more amateur shows to fill up their schedule, and Schuyler approached Luna with a proposition. He would provide her with a mixer and they would provide her with webspace and airtime, if she did her own show. After thinking about it for a while and talking to Mikal, whom she lived with and was close friends with, and whom would be her co-host, she decided to take him up on the offer...

And so she planned and brainstormed about how to run the show and what to call it. She took some advice from people in chat rooms she hung out in, from other show hosts, and friends. Finally, after brainstorming in a chat room one night, Schuyler came up with a play on words of a few suggestions thrown out and came up with Practical Lunacy. Luna loved it, and so it was to be the name for her show...

The first airing of Practical Lunacy took place on Friday, March 12th, 2004 (technically Saturday the 13th, since it aired at midnight!), on tasteofthegoods.com. Now, three years later, a lot has changed, but the concept of the show is basically the same...
Over the years, we've changed the Hosts, Schedule, Server Location, Chat Room, Opening Theme, and Website. There are also lots of Recurring Themes, some of which have been around since the beginning of the show, and most of which will never go away. |
